Sunny, this was one of the most thoughtful and convicting pieces I've read on idolatry. I appreciated that you didn't reduce idols to obvious sins, but showed how even good gifts can quietly become ultimate things when we look to them for the security, identity, or peace that only God can provide. Your line, "An idol is not simply something we love too much. It is something we make responsible for saving us," really stayed with me. Living with cerebral palsy and having walked through breast cancer has taught me how easy it is to make health, control, or certainty into idols without even realizing it. Those experiences have continually brought me back to the truth that Christ alone is my security. Thank you for this wise and timely reminder to examine our hearts honestly and keep returning to the Fountain of Living Water.
